With Shannon and I playing PDXassassin, we spend quite a few hours staking out our target, eating greasy sandwiches, hotdogs, and other wonderful things. However, since we are sitting on our asses while we do it…
I’ve gained another two pounds. Two. I’m kind of doing this thing, but in the exact reverse.

(1) Fear of having my face taking on a bloblike life of it’s own and crawling down my chest. Even if I am the head of one of the most profitable corporations in the world.
Case in point, the happy melting face of Exxon’s CEO.

Being hungover, lazy, and without groceries this morning, I stopped at the Jack in the Crack on my way home from Nicole’s. I ingested nearly 540 calories (207 from fat) in the Breakfast Jack combo ( Classic Egg, Ham, and Cheese Breakfast Sandwich with hash browns and a 10-oz orange juice ).
I want to puke. I am playing music tonight. I tend to play the drums pretty hard, I might burn off about 275 calories in my hour of rocking.
I put alot of nasty shit in my body in the past day. Too much booze at dysfunctional family fued last night.

Okay, I’m freaking out…I have been trying to be better about writing down everything I eat, counting all the calories I am consuming so as to keep myself under 1500. The internet, of course, is handy for many things not the least of which is to look up the calorie content of various foods. I have some mini-Reese’s PButter Cups in my office plus some Tootsie Rolls (little ones) for my kids to have while they meet with me for therapy. I had 4 mini-Resses today and two mini Tootsie Rolls. The total calories for the Reeses was 144 or 4×36 calories each. I was shocked and horrified to find that Tootsie Rolls apparently have 140 calories each!! Can you believe that??? No wonder I’m not losing any weight! Here I am thinking, Tootsie Rolls, they are so small. And meanwhile those bastards are packing quite a caloric punch. Yikes! That’s all I can say.

Well of course this is largely a theory, based on studies that compared sleep patterns with obesity. It was found that people who slept less often ended up gaining more weight. The theory goes that with less sleep, your body decreases it’s levels of leptin, which is a chemical released by fat cells. Lower levels of leptin apparently resuly in a slower metabolism and increased appetite.
Here is some super biochemical information at wikipedia.
And here is a more in-depth article.
I call’em like I see’em kids, and boy howdy, do I love to sleep.
